Having 5 kids, I have a lot of art and goodies that my kids create that I love to display. I’m not a fan of having stuff that my kids make on my fridge, as it always seems to fall off and get ruined. My solution was to create this clip board to put on my wall to display my kids art. I got the wood board from Home Depot for $10 and I had them cut it in half for me there when I purchased it. I stained it with a dark walnut stain and then hot glued clothes pins on that were decorated with washi tape. I love how it turned out and it works so well for displaying art and pictures. During holidays, I’ll put up pictures from the past years, which is especially fun on Halloween and Christmas. It’s always fun to see how much my kids have grown and this board is the perfect place to display these pictures!
Ponytails are by far one of the easiest hairstyles to do and I love finding ways to spice them up a bit. I love doing elastic accents on the top or the side of my girls head before I put it in a ponytail. My main reason for doing elastic styles like this is to hold all of their baby hairs out of their face. My girls have so many fly aways and shorter hairs that won’t stay in a regular ponytail, so styles like this really help :). Plus they stay put all day long! Perfect for school, dance, sports, and just playing around!
Here are a few of my favorites!
Ladder Elastics into a ponytail. I actually saw this style on one of my friends daughters and loved it! Such a creative, and easy, way to add an accent on top!
Knotted Elastics into a Ponytail. This is one of my all time favorite styles! I was inspired by Sheer Braided Bliss on Instagram. Check out the video below to see how I did it!
Another Knotted Elastic style! I did this one on top of her head and put the elastics a little closer together, so the knot is a little tighter.
I LOVE this elastic style! I started with a small triangle, and then made the partings going outward. Super cute!
And here’s another triangle elastic style.
** All clip bows are from LaBelle Baby!
Ok…I have NO idea why I have never seen, or even thought of, this type of bun before! It is genius! It is SO easy to do and it only requires two things…an elastic and a Topsy Tail!! What?!?! AND, it stays put all day long! No joke! It’s amazing! A total game changer! Plus I think I like this more than messy buns, which is saying a lot ;). I also love the fact that I don’t have to use bobby pins, and so does my daughter. There are times that the bobby pins poke her and she doesn’t like that at all, so she was thrilled with this new technique!!
To do this style, all you need is a Topsy Tail (click here to be directed to this product!).
Here are some more pictures of this style, and go to the bottom for the FULL VIDEO TUTORIAL! Enjoy recreating!!!
There are so many days when I sit down to do my girls hair and have no idea what I’m going to do. This was one of those days. After talking to her about what she wanted, we came up with this style. She was going to be swimming that day, and we were so busy the next day as well, so we wanted to do something that would stay put really well and last two days. This definitely fit the bill! Can you figure out how I did it? It’s pretty complicated to explain, so I’ll do this again and do a video :).
The 4th of July is by far my FAVORITE holiday! It always has been…probably because my birthday is on July 3rd and I always thought that it was a celebration for me! Ha! I think that the 4th is a great holiday to go BIG with your outfits, makeup, accessories, and, of course, HAIR! Here are some fun styles that I’ve done to give you some inspiration.
I have a thing for pull through braids lately! I love how it stays put all day long and looks just as good at the end of the day as it does when you first do it. For reals! Last night, I decided to texture her hair so that we didn’t have to do it this morning…it really does take some time to do! When she woke up, the texture was just as good as it was when I did it the night before, thank goodness! Her hair was fluffy like cotton…it’s awesome! Seriously, playing with textured hair is my favorite! And I just LOVE that the texture will last for a few days so I’m able to do lots of fun styles on it. And if I didn’t love this braid enough already, I love it even more with the texture! So much volume! It’s definitely worth the time to do the texturing, plus it is just so much fun…for both me and my girls. They love it just as much as I do :).
The last day of school is tomorrow for my kids, and I am so so SO excited about it! I am beyond ready to have them all to myself for the next few months. I have a lot of fun things planned for us this summer…eek!!
I always wanted my girls to dance…I was a dancer and it was a huge part of my life when I was younger. To see my girls twirl around the house daily and dance to any music that is playing makes my mama heart so happy. They are definitely my little ballerinas and I just love how much they love to dance. When I got these beautiful Taylor Joelle Designs dresses for them, they immediately put them on and stated that they were the perfect dresses for twirling! What little girl doesn’t adore a dress like this?! I just adore the color and design of these dresses and how perfect they are for my little ladies.
The sister bond is real! They just get each other!
Twirling, twirling, twirling…
I, of course, had to do a high ballerina bun in their hair when they wore these dresses. I just did a sock bun and then wrapped a braid around the base of the bun. So darling!
Little sis had her last day of school today…definitely a bittersweet moment! Why must these littles grow up so quickly! She has learned so much this year, but I am honestly so happy that school is done and that she is all mine for summer! I just LOVE having all of my kids home and all to myself!
She insisted on having her hair down, so I did some soft curls and a style that I did back this summer called the Feathered Elastic. Instead of connecting each ponytail going back, I split each piece and let half of each ponytail hang down. I love the look that it gives…so subtle, yet so pretty. Plus it’s a super fast style to do! Win win!

The weather around here is FINALLY so nice and beautiful. It’s so wonderful to finally be able to go to the park more often…being outside makes my kids and I so much happier! There is something about sunshine, flowers, green grass, fresh air that brings out the best in us. Whatever it is, I’ll take it!
When we go to the park, little sis mostly likes to just run around on the grass and explore. I don’t mind one bit…it’s so fun seeing the world through her eyes and seeing where she goes. It really is the best!
It was especially windy this day, so we opted to just put her hair in double French braids, which was perfect for keeping her hair out of her face. Otherwise, her hair would have been everywhere. She is quite the girly girl lately and insists on wearing dresses or skirts. This dress from Loola Kids is so perfect for busy little girls. It is so so soft and fits her so well. It’s the perfect length and she just loves to wear it. Plus it is absolutely adorable!
I’m excited to share some more of these darling dresses soon. Happy Day to you!
I can’t tell you how much I love waves and curls in my girls hair that are completely HEATLESS!! I really, truly, do try to not use much heat on my girls hair. Their hair is so so SO fine…it’s crazy how easy their hair can get damaged or break. My go-to waves for my girlies are French Braids! Yes…so easy and oh so adorable! Sometimes I put French braids in their hair the night before after they get out of the bath, or I’ll do their hair of the day in French braids and then have them sleep on them. My girls are always so excited when I take the braids out and they have, as I say, Waves for Days! I’m thinking that they like them so much because their hair is so straight…it’s kinda fun to have some pretty waves that stay put! And, yes, waves from French braids do not come out at all…at least in my girls hair. And they have some fine fine hair, so I’m thinking waves like these will stay in most hair types. And when we do waves like this, we almost always leave their hair down…obviously…but I usually pull one or both sides back, just to keep it out of their face. So, if you are looking for some fun, heatless waves, then French braids are the answer. AND, if you want to learn how to french braid, I have added my video tutorial to the bottom of this post. It really is such an easy peasy braid…once you get the hang of it. And just practice, practice, practice…that’s the only way to learn :).
Here are some styles that we have done with French Braids Waves…
On this night, we decided to branch out and just do a lot of micro braids…the result was a wave that was much tighter. Kinda fun! But it did take more time…and my hands were kinda sore when we were done. But, it was worth it!
And, the next day her waves were a bit frizzy, but we just rolled with it and did this style with some texture. Her ponytail was so so fluffy…I couldn’t stop touching it!
