Ballet Bun

November 10, 2015

My girls love to have their hair up and pretty for dance. Here’s a style that I did on little sis and I just love how it turned out!

How I did this:

  • Make a square section in the front, and tie it off with an elastic and do a flip through.
  • Create 2 more sections on either side of the main piece, and tie them off and do a flip through.
  • Take the ponytails from the front sections and pull them forward so that they are not in the way.
  • Bring the remaining hair into a high ponytail.
  • Back to the 3 front ponytails • Take the middle and split it in half. Take that right piece and combine it with the right ponytail by doing a rope twist braid. Once the braid reaches the main ponytail, attach it with an elastic.
  • Repeat with the left section of the front ponytail and the left ponytail.
  • Now that all of the hair is secured in the main ponytail, we are going to create the bun.
  • Take a bun maker (or sock bun, or hair donut) and slip it through the ponytail.
  • Spread the hair around the bun maker so that it completely covers it.
  • Take an elastic and slide it over the hair around the bun maker. Now the hair is securely around the bun maker.
  • Take the hair that is sticking out and twist it clockwise around the bun until you come to the end.
  • Secure the twisted hair in place with Bobby pins.
  • Done!
